Data & Insights on New Production Facilities in the Alternative Protein Industry Globally

The fourth quarter of 2025 saw significant expansion in the alternative protein infrastructure, with ten new production and innovation facilities. The data in this article, compiled by Nicholas Dahl, founder and CEO of Alternative Proteins Global, showcases 10 new production facilities in the alternative protein industry in Q4 2025 detailing technology (plant-based, fermentation, cultivated, other), and geography (city, country), and provides links to further reporting.

In the plant-based sector, dsm-firmenich unveiled its Van Marken Food Innovation Center in Delft, Netherlands, with a strategic focus on dairy alternatives. Meanwhile, France-based Yumgo expanded its footprint by opening a new production site for plant-based eggs in Moissy-Cramayel.

The following projects were announced or launched within the fermentation sector: The Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) partnered with The EVERY Company and Vivici to explore the creation of a 4-million-liter protein fermentation ecosystem in Abu Dhabi. In Northern Europe, Solar Foods selected Selkäharju, Finland, as the site for “Factory 02,” its newest facility for air-based protein (Solein), while Yeastup launched its facility in Lyss, Switzerland, dedicated to upcycling spent brewer’s yeast into vegan protein and fiber.

The cultivated meat industry also reported advancements, led by Believer Meats, which received USDA approval for both its cultivated chicken and its recently completed production facility in Wilson, North Carolina. However, in a sudden turn of events just a few weeks later, Believer Meats has decided to close its doors. In Asia, ImpacFat launched a specialized cultivated fish fat hub in Tokyo, and Joes Future Food began construction on a pilot production plant in China.

Rounding out the global developments, Givaudan opened a new liquids production facility in Reading, Ohio, and MiAlgae broke ground on its microalgae-based Omega-3 oil plant in Grangemouth, Scotland.
