Starbucks India Partners With SuperYou to Offer Cold Foam Made From Biofermented Yeast Protein

Starbucks India has partnered with SuperYou, an Indian company producing biofermented yeast protein, to offer a new Protein Cold Foam.

The foam can be used to add 11 to 18 grams of protein to certain cold beverages, depending on cup size. It is available in chocolate, banana, and vanilla flavours.

As part of a limited-edition menu, consumers can choose options such as Cold Brew with Chocolate Protein Cold Foam, Caramel Frappuccino® with Banana Protein Cold Foam, and Iced Latte with Vanilla Protein Cold Foam. They can also customise cold beverages such as iced coffees and cold brews by adding the foam; zero-sugar variants are available.

“Wellness today is about everyday choices that feel achievable,” Sushant Dash, CEO of Tata Starbucks, told BW Retail World. “With Protein Cold Foam, we wanted to create an option that fits naturally into existing coffee rituals, without asking customers to change what they love.”

“Magic can happen”

On LinkedIn, SuperYou co-founder Nikunj Biyani said the collaboration had been six months in the making, with countless product discussions, extensive R&D, and a lot of negotiation. He explained that the foam had been developed by Starbucks using SuperYou’s yeast protein.

“Proud (and still slightly in disbelief) to announce our first ever collaboration with one of the most iconic brands in the world!” said Biyani. “Brand collaborations are hard to get right. Because when they’re done just for attention, most people can tell. But when they’re built around a product, a purpose, and a real idea — magic can happen!”

The new protein foam is now available at all 500 Starbucks stores across India.
