CellAgri Portugal, the country’s association for the development of cellular agriculture, announces its 2nd International Conference on the 4th and 5th of October at Fórum in Lisbon. The abstract submission deadline for interested collaborators is the 30th of July 2024.
The conference aims to bring together leading scientists, entrepreneurs, and industry experts to explore the latest advancements in the field, from cultivated meat and seafood to leather and precision fermentation ingredients.
Building on the success of its inaugural edition, CellAgri Portugal has organized a dynamic program featuring a lineup of renowned keynote speakers including:
- Dr. Sebastian Rakers, co-founder of the German cultivated seafood company BLUU Seafood
- Dr. Marianne Ellis Bath University’s CARMA – Cellular Agriculture Manufacturing Hub
- Dr. Elliot Swartz, principal cultivated meat scientist at the Good Food Institute
- Dr. Will van den Tweel, from the Belgium precision fermentation startup Those Vegan Cowboys
In addition, scientific presentations and poster sessions will delve into a wide range of topics, from food to sustainable biomaterials. At the same time, interactive round tables will facilitate open dialogue on critical issues such as safety, regulations, sustainability, and commercializing cellular agriculture products.
Cellular Agriculture Europe’s membership soars
Cellular Agriculture Europe announces a 150% increase in membership, stating that its rapid expansion is driven by a commitment to keeping Europe — the birthplace of cultivated meat — competitive in the global food innovation sector.

In Q3 2024, the association welcomed 12 new members, expanding its reach to previously unrepresented countries, including Italy, where the government criminalized cultivated meat. The new members comprise startups, established companies, and research institutions specializing in various aspects of cellular agriculture:

Food traditions from all corners
