Cultivated meat company, Believer Meats, has announced the completion of two key milestones in its progression towards large-scale commercialization. The company has received a “No Questions” letter from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), signaling the successful pre-market safety review of its product. This regulatory approval marks a critical step in the company’s efforts to bring its cultivated meat products to market in the US.

In addition, Believer Meats has finalized construction of its production facility in Wilson, North Carolina. Described by the company as the world’s first large-scale cultivated meat production site, the facility is now in the commissioning phase. The company is currently working with the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) to secure the final inspection needed for the plant to begin operations.
CEO Gustavo Burger expressed his enthusiasm about the progress, stating, “I’m thrilled to share a transformative moment for Believer Meats and the cultivated meat industry as a whole. This is a defining moment, a bold leap forward in our vision to lead food innovation that cares for the planet.”
Believer Meats has attracted investment from major players, including ADM, Tyson Foods, and Emerald Technology Ventures, which are supporting its efforts to scale up production and further commercialize the technology.
Delivering cultivated meat at scale
Last year, Believer Meats expanded its executive team and formed partnerships with organizations such as the Bezos Center for Sustainable Protein and GEA. The company is also collaborating with Abu Dhabi’s AGWA, a new food and water cluster, as it works to make cultivated meat more affordable and widely available.

Believer Meats has expressed confidence that it is on track to deliver cultivated meat products while helping to shape a more sustainable food system.
