CREMER Group, a specialist in the trade, processing, and transport of raw and basic materials, has launched a new brand called FermBase to serve as a competence center and one-stop shop for fermentation media.
FermBase aims to address key challenges in the next-generation and precision fermentation industries, including complex sourcing requirements, fragmented feedstock markets, raw material costs as a major driver of process costs, and limited scalability across the supply chain.
As a partner, the brand will provide reliable feedstock access, procurement, and globally scalable, resilient supply chains. This could allow customers to focus on research and growth while CREMER manages the supply chain, from pilot scale to industrial production.
FermBase is aimed at startups, scaleups, and established fermentation companies worldwide, serving applications in the food, feed, cosmetics, and industrial sectors.

“One of the most exciting technologies of the future”
FermBase aims to make it significantly easier for fermentation companies to source suitable feedstocks and nutrients, and to make supply chains more efficient. The brand will work to provide companies with practical, economically viable, and scalable solutions.
CREMER notes that its years of experience in global raw material trading, along with its access to feedstocks, logistics capabilities, and extensive processing capacities, provide a solid foundation for FermBase.
Initial customer projects in alternative proteins, precision fermentation, and industrial biotechnology have reportedly been launched already. Going forward, CREMER plans to further develop its offer, integrating new feedstock opportunities, digital solutions, and technological approaches into the optimization of fermentation media and supply chains.
“Fermentation is one of humankind’s oldest technologies – and at the same time, one of the most exciting technologies of the future,” said Dr. Christian Flach, CEO of Peter Cremer Holding. “With FermBase, we are building on our long-standing expertise in global raw material trading. Our portfolio provides a unique starting point to support fermentation companies in establishing stable international supply chains. We are creating an infrastructure that accelerates innovation and reduces complexity.”
