The APAC Society for Cellular Agriculture (APAC-SCA) has formed a partnership with Beyond Impact VC and the Beyond Animal investment platform to advance funding in the cellular agriculture and future food sectors.
As part of the collaboration, Peter Yu, Program Director of APAC-SCA, will take on the role of advisor to Beyond Impact VC. In this capacity, Yu will provide guidance on potential investment opportunities within the growing cellular agriculture industry.
The shift starts with VCs
“For too long, investment has drifted away from the deep science that underpins our industry. If we are serious about transforming food systems, the focus must shift back to the future food industry—and that shift starts with VCs. By putting capital behind the companies solving the biggest challenges in food, we can accelerate progress from lab to market,” Yu stated.

The partnership also includes the launch of the Beyond Biotech series, a program consisting of live, interactive webinars. The series will feature eight APAC-SCA member companies and provide a platform for in-depth discussions on their vision, scientific innovations, and commercial strategies. These one-on-one sessions will be available through the Beyond Animal platform.
Overcoming global challenges
The Beyond Biotech series demonstrates the critical importance of investment in the food technology sector. With growing challenges such as climate change and unstable supply chains, food innovation is becoming increasingly essential. Advances in synthetic biology and cellular agriculture are presenting new investment opportunities at a scale comparable to other disruptive industries like energy and artificial intelligence.
“Food technology is no longer optional—it’s essential,” a statement from Beyond Animal read. The series intends to connect investors with innovators and highlight the urgency of supporting the companies poised to reshape global food systems.
