Umami Bioworks Launches Cultivated Marine Supplement Line, Expands into Beauty Sector with New Collaboration

Umami Bioworks has launched a new line of cultivated marine supplements under its Marine Radiance™ brand, which the company claims to be the world’s first. The new supplements, developed using the company’s ALKEMYST™ AI platform, target the growing consumer demand for marine-derived nutrition, which is recognized for supporting heart health, brain function, skin vitality, and longevity.

Sustainable solution to supply chain challenges

The company claims the supplements provide a solution to the challenges posed by conventional marine-sourced products, which are often inconsistent, strained by supply bottlenecks, and contaminated by mercury and microplastics. These cultivated alternatives are positioned to deliver consistent purity and targeted health benefits, including support for skin and joint vitality, metabolic health, and overall nutrition. Additionally, the supplements are designed to meet global demand sustainably, without damaging marine ecosystems.

“We’re excited to introduce this new category under Marine Radiance™ as a natural expansion that responds to increasing consumer demand for clean, sustainable, and science-backed marine-derived nutrition,” Umami Bioworks said in a statement. The launch follows the debut of the Marine Radiance™ platform in August, which initially focused on cosmetics.

In addition to this product release, Umami Bioworks also provided insight into the company’s broader strategy. Initially focused on cultivated seafood as a solution for food security, the company soon realized that its cultivated marine cell platform had applications beyond food. This led to the development of Marine Radiance™, a wellness solution that applies its AI-driven platform to create commercial products for the beauty and wellness industries.

MRXI moves into skincare

As part of its efforts to extend its technology into multiple sectors, Umami Bioworks announced a partnership with Qurio, a prominent consumer beauty and wellness incubator based in Singapore. This collaboration will see the launch of the first commercial product powered by Umami’s MRX1™ ingredient, a marine-based active designed to improve skin health.

“We are so thrilled to announce our collaboration with Qurio, Singapore’s leading consumer beauty and wellness incubator, on the first commercial product powered by our MRX1™ ingredient! Qurio brings deep expertise in incubating and accelerating high-performance cosmeceutical brands, with a proven track record of translating cutting-edge science into market-ready formulations. Their network and brand-building capabilities make them an ideal partner to introduce MRX1™ to consumers for the very first time,” said the company.

The company furthered, “Together, we are bringing forward a new class of cultivated marine actives. This launch marks the first commercial validation of MRX1™ and demonstrates how strategic partnerships can bring breakthrough science to global beauty markets.”
